This edition of Family News includes articles on Camp Tadmor. At first thought that sounds natural, after all Tadmor is the CB Northwest Association Camp. The CB Family News circulates to approximately 23,000 people, and I realize that for many of you Camp Tadmor is a distant land. It is my hope, however, that you will draw encouragement from the articles found in this month’s edition.
I would further add that Camp Tadmor and its structure have led the way in fleshing out a new paradigm for ministry. This paradigm represents a philosophical change from the top down. In many respects Tadmor’s ministry was the first to embrace a strict mission of serving our churches.
In itself this is a noble effort, and yet Tadmor has become a hothouse for developing next generation ministers. We are committed to our summer and permanent staff being challenged to the idea of local church ministry for life. It is our belief that those who would give up a summer, or perhaps a few years, to minister at Tadmor can be equipped to serve the local church dynamically. I will be so bold as to tell you we are legitimately raising up the next generation of church planters.
So let me see if I can connect the dots. The ministry of Tadmor resources the local church; the summer ministry team is challenged to serve the local church; and permanent staff are groomed for the next generation of leadership in the local church. From my perspective that is holistic ministry. As you read, be encouraged that God is at work in and through this vital ministry.
CB Northwest is 260+ churches in four states. For some of you, Tadmor still may feel like a distant land, but in the context of covenant community it becomes a significant link, providing ministry and ministers to our whole family.
